Should Nigeria Government Ban the use of Hijab

Mr James Idoghor, a human rights activist has called on the federal government to ban the use of veil or hijab by women claiming that hoodlums were hiding under it to perpetuate crime.
Vanguard reports that the activist from Sapele, Delta state expressed concern about the continued case of the missing girls who were abducted from their school in Chibok. He said the killing and terror attack in the country especially in the northern part of the country were carried out by people who wore veils.
“Most of the perpetrators of the heinous crimes usually wear veils to disguise their gender and motives.”
He noted that the killing was becoming an everyday affair and the government needed to take charge of the situation.

“No democratic country will tolerate any religious norm that has turned dangerous to the precious lives of her citizenry. This government should not pay deaf ears to the cries of her citizens. People are dying in their dozens by the day. The wearing of veils must be stopped.”

Meanwhile, an attack was carried out on Friday, November 27 that claimed the lives of some Muslims on procession. The leader of the group claimed the attack was not carried out by Boko Haram fighters as widely suspected. Instead he claimed to know who the real culprits were and accused the Department of State Service (DSS) of having foreknowledge of the attack.
